A Study on the Correlation between the Physical Measurments and Body Flexibility in the Korean Primary School Boys

Abstract
For the study of the physical growth and body flexibility, the author measured the stature, lower limb length, body weight, standing trunk flexion and trunk extension of 662 Korean boys ranging from 7 to 10 years of age and calculated the correlation coefficients among all of the items in each age group.

The results were summarized as follows:
1. The averages of the stature were 177. 93 cm in 7, 124. 13 cm in 8, 129. 47 cm in 9 and 134. 21 cm in 10 years of age, and the annual growth was 5. 43 cm.

2. The averages of the lower limb length were 62. 48 cm in 7, 66. 48 cm in 8, 69. 88 cm in 9 and 72.75 cm in 10 years of age, and annual growth was 3. 42.
3. The averages of the body weight were 21. 8 kg in 7, 25. 09 kg in, 8, 28.05 kg in 9 and 30. 58 kg in 10 years of age, and annual growth was 2. 91 kg.

4. The averages of the standing trunk flexion are 3. 42 cm in 7, 3. 34 cm in 8, 3. 95 cm in 9 and 4.08 cm in 10 years of age.
5. The averages of the trunk extension were 30. 22 cm in 7, 33. 40 cm in 8, 38. 16 cm in 9 and 39.38 cm in 10 years of age.
6. The correlation coefficient between stature and lower limb lengthis over 0. 8, and that between stature and body weight is over 0. 6.
7. The correlation coefficients between the physical measurements and flexibilities were below 0. 2.
